Invisible Software

Adapter Dependent
Invisible LAN Operating System
for DOS and Windows 3.X
Version 4.00K

This is the Adapter Dependent (AD) version of the Invisible LAN Operating System, for DOS and Windows 3.X.

The AD version only supports network boards manufactured by Invisible Software. If you want to use network boards manufactured by other companies, you should get the Adapter Independent (AI) version instead.

The Invisible LAN operating system has many features, including:

The software available on this web site can be used in two ways: (a) to set up a new installation of Invisible LAN; and (b) to upgrade an earlier version of the Invisible LAN software to version 4.00K. We give instructions below for each of these possibilities.

Instructions -- For A New Installation

If you want to set up a new installation of the Adapter Dependent Invisible LAN Operating System, for DOS and Windows 3.X, do this:

  1. Click here to download ILAD.ZIP (1483K).

  2. Make a directory on your hard disk to hold the Invisible LAN software. We recommend calling the directory C:\NET30. The following command is an example of how you might create the directory:

        MD  C:\NET30

  3. Unzip ILAD.ZIP into the directory you just created. For example, with PKUNZIP you could use the following command:

        PKUNZIP  -d  ILAD  C:\NET30\

Notice the -d parameter. This tells PKUNZIP to use the subdirectory information in the ZIP file.

  4. Run SETUP30 (standard setup) or QSETUP (quick setup) to set up the Invisible LAN software. Refer to the instruction manuals for details. Note: When running SETUP30, you don't need to use the "Copy Files" command because the files are already installed on your hard disk.

Instructions -- To Upgrade

Here is how to upgrade to version 4.00K, if you have an existing installation of the Adapter Dependent Invisible LAN Operating System, for DOS and Windows 3.X.

  1. Click here to download ILAD.ZIP (1483K).

  2. Unzip ILAD.ZIP directly into your existing NET30 disk directory. (The NET30 directory is the directory where the Invisible LAN operating system is installed.) For example, with PKUNZIP you could use the following command:

        PKUNZIP  -d  ILAD  C:\NET30\

Notice the -d parameter. This tells PKUNZIP to use the subdirectory information in the ZIP file.

When you unzip ILAD.ZIP, the version 4.00K files overwrite your existing Invisible LAN files. Your existing network settings and security system are preserved through the upgrade.

Note: If you are running Ultra Server, you should also download and install version 4.00K of Ultra Server.

Note: Upgrading only works if your existing Invisible LAN is version 3.00 or later. If you have a version prior to 3.00, you need to delete your old Invisible LAN software and perform a new installation of version 4.00K.
